The club came about when newcomer to the area and keen runner, Peter Brown, suggested to the Leisure centre manager at the time, John Taylor, that in view of the number of people running around Beverley on their own there may be enough interest to form a running group at the leisure centre. Mr Taylor paid for an advertisement to appear in the Beverley Advertiser inviting interested parties to attend a meeting at the leisure centre.
As a result of 15 people attending the meeting and expressing an interest it was decided to trial group runs on a Wednesday evening. Despite attendance figures of less than half a dozen in the early weeks, numbers slowly picked up and a decision was taken to become an affiliated athletics club. Since then annual membership figures have risen each year, topping for the first time on 12th January Currently membership stands at approximately and has also extended to a thriving and successful juniors club of approximately
Jul 12, · Classic FM kicked off the musical analysis with a faithful transcript of the humming, calling the tune — dubbed “Cameron’s lament” — “ambivalent, confusing” from a harmonic point of view.
History[ edit ] The idea for a national, commercial FM network devoted to classical music originated with the management at GWR group , an entrepreneurial group of UK commercial radio stations. It had been operating a trial programme on its AM frequencies in Wiltshire and Bristol , testing audience reaction to a regular drive-time programme of popular classical music.
It proved successful and the company’s CEO, Ralph Bernard, and programme director, Michael Bukht , drew up the plans for a national station. After failing to raise sufficient funds for the project Brolly’s consortium was approached by GWR Group and the two merged. The UK Government had decided to award several new national radio licences and invited tenders. Brolly had brought the idea to Rick Senat , the long-serving head of business affairs in London for Warner Brothers and current owner of Hammer Films.
An internal dispute over ownership of the licence was resolved and the consortium was completed after Time Warner agreed to back GWR’s plans for the station. During the station’s test transmissions between July and September , Classic FM broadcast a continuous soundtrack of birds singing and other countryside sounds. The “birdsong” test transmissions attracted newspaper articles and comment prior to the station’s launch.
This birdsong recording could later be heard on the temporary DAB station ” Birdsong “, which replaced Oneword when it closed down. Global Radio , the UK’s largest radio station ownership group, now owns the station.

Norm Leave a comment The Yamaha DX7 Mk 1 may be thought by some to be an unusual candidate for these pages as it can hardly be classed as a rare, collectable vintage analogue keyboard however my point of view is that keyboards are to be played, not collected. But as it was originally produced in and was the first affordable digital synthesizer then now seems as good a time as any for a re-appraisal of this enigmatic keyboard.
I still find that this is the keyboard for percussive bell sounds, excellent electric pianos and extreme bass sounds. The DX7 was first produced in after several years of apparent inactivity from Yamaha on the synth front it followed the extremely expensive and completely preset GS1 and GS2 and took the synth market by storm. For these reasons it was soon the keyboard to be seen with during the mid-eighties and was so popular it even got a second chance with the DX7 MkII not many synths get that honour.
In total Yamaha went on to make something like , of them. The range consisted of: With a 76 keys, this time without the poly-aftertouch, this instrument is still a large keyboard but in my opinion if you had the space for it this is an ideal studio master keyboard and it is easier to understand than the DX7 because of the improved control layout. A bargain especially at the sort of silly prices you sometimes see them go for second-hand.
DX7 — The ideal all rounder of the range for both studio and live. DX7-IID — Not a simple upgrade but a complete range of redesigns, only loosely based on the success of the original, that was released in

Production[ edit ] Many programmes are pre-recorded. Programmes transmitted live include Today, magazine programme Woman’s Hour, consumer affairs programme You and Yours , and often the music, film, books, arts and culture programme Front Row. This has reduced the total number of continuity announcers required each day down from four to three. The Time Signal , known as ‘the pips’, is broadcast every hour to herald the news bulletin, except at midnight and

The sound is consequently less expansive than other recordings but the rewards are glorious, with Egarr at the harpsichord driving the delightfully clean and springy rhythms, every detail sharply defined, each separate timbre there for us to enjoy. This intimate chamber approach allows the trumpets in Suites Nos. Egarr uses only one player per part, which provides great clarity and flexibility, and especially allows the trumpets to shine while keeping the sonic balance.
He resists what he calls the mounting competition to play the suites faster and more metronomically, instead providing naturally brisk tempi that allow the players clear articulation and satisfying interchange. The dance rhythms are lively and beautifully sprung. This joyous account has instantly become my favourite version of the suites, and would be a great place to start for anyone wanting to get to know Bach.

Fierce local climbs like Yorkshill and Carter’s Hill near Sevenoaks, Hucking Hill near Maidstone and, slightly further afield, Ditchling Beacon and Steyning Round Hill in Sussex certainly suggested otherwise, particularly when carrying a saddlebag full of food for a self-catering hostel weekend. The solution I hit on was to fit a Cyclo 2-speed converter based on the Cyclo Benelux Mark 7 derailleur to the Sturmey. In this way, I doubled my number of gears without incurring the cost of a new hub and rebuilt wheel.
This arrangement served me well, being used on my first ever solo week-long tour of mid-Wales in right through to a three-week tour of Denmark and Sweden in For the classic lightweight enthusiast wishing to recreate a period touring machine, the hybrid arrangement of hub gear and derailleur is an attractive option.
