In our celebrity interview, Alfonso told us about the determination it took to become a finalist, which started ten years ago when she auditioned for the first time and faced rejection.
Determined to break celebrity news headlines with her SYTYCD performances, she remarkably auditioned for the show three more times before she was able to prove to the world that she had what it took to make it. The only difference was that there was so much more pressure to be on TV. On the tour, we can work on our routine and make it better and better each time.
I was around 18 years old when I first auditioned and I was just going for the experience.

So are they dating?
Ballroom dancers Ashleigh Di Lello and Ryan Di Lello were on Season 6 of the show, but they were married before they were even on SYTYCD and they both made it to the finale. Here’s one of the few.

Two years ago, on season 2, four of the twelve finalists were Latter-day Saints. Two of the four finalists were LDS. The winner of the competition, Benji Schwimmer, had just returned from serving as a Mormon missionary. His cousin and usual partner, Heidi Groskreutz, was also a finalist. The following year on season 3, Benji’s sister Lacey was a top 4 finalist. The year after, Chelsie Hightower , who trains in Orem, Utah, was a top ten finalist, and Provo’s Thayne Jasperson was also a top contestant.
Mollee Gray was a principal dancer in all three of Walt Disney’s High School Musical movies, which were filmed in Utah to take advantage of the talent there. Jared Murillo also performed in High School Musical. Marie Osmond appeared in Dancing with the Stars and made it to the finals, but placed third after a week of personal challenges, including fainting from breathing problems, the death of her father, and one of her children entering rehab.
In the 25th season, all three female contestants remaining on the show, two professionals, Witney Carson and Lindsay Arnold , and hip hop violinist Lindsey Stirling were all LDS. Arnold and her partner, Jordan Fisher, took first place.
Now the Top Ten perform with new partners and dance a solo routine! The judges will no longer be cutting the contestants and the decision is completely left up to America. On with the show Judge Debbie Allen graced Mary and Nigel with her presence on the panel this week. And for a guest judge, we have Tyce Diorio! The first contestant is Alvin aka Tony? He says he wants to show us something that we’ve never seen before – which is never a good sign. I can’t tell whether he thinks he’s actually good or if he’s one of those reality losers who just want to get on television. However, his feet are definitely too big, but I don’t think that’s why he’s so awful.
